Back to School
There is about one month left of summer vacation, then Back to School. Is your child ready for the new academic year? Many parents prepare for the purchase of new clothes, school supplies etc. but are you prepared for the next level of skills.
Review last year
Before school starts take the time to review last year’s progress reports, report cards, both homework and class assignments and reflect on conversations and letters from the teacher, has your child corrected the weaknesses from the previous school year? Let us not start the school year with the same weakness from the previous school year.
Academic, social development and behavioral issues need to be addressed and rectified (at the minimum moving in the direction of change).
Prepare for the New Year
Find out what are the competencies your child is required to have by the end of the new academic school year. Determine how you can help your child develop a jump start to meeting these competencies while at home over the summer.
Recommended Readings
Most schools give children a recommended list of books to read for the age/grade level, utilize this tool to help your child advance.
Be proactive, enthusiastic and involved in your child’s education. Education begins in the home, teachers and parents are a team to help our child succeed.
Remember: Noir Kids are all top of the class.

My girls (Robyn, 6 and Zakia, 5) has been reading all summer long. Zakia will be attending Kindergarten and knows 210 of the 250 sight words that they need to know by the end of KG. She’s like a sponge and soaks up everything so quickly. And she reads well too. She’s so smart. Robyn will be attending 1st grade and reads on a 4th to 5th grade level already. She helps when it comes to her little sisters’ learning. She’s great with math and even knows times tables now. You are right, at home should be our children’s first school.
