Mommy Relaxation
After your bundle of joy arrives, the addition to the family will change your life. Your time is no longer yours and with it goes most of your free time. Sometimes parents forget to find the time to get out enjoy themselves. Most women have a difficult time tearing themselves away from their little one to make time for entertainment. Then there are some women who will crave the adult interaction before others, needing to get out and be just an adult or just a wife for an evening.
As women, wives and mothers we must try to maintain a healthy balance of all of our roles, TRY is the key word in the sentence. By no means am I promoting that your favorite phrase to your little one should be “Mommie be back” but make some time for yourself.
Here are some ideas that easy you back into an evening of ME time
In-house Sitter
If you have a young baby and are just simply hesitant to leave your child with a sitter, or if you live far away from family and friends you trust to care for your little one;
- Hire a sitter to come to your house, but you stay in as well
- Plan for a romantic evening with your spouse/significant other – this date should be better than a normal date because you are at home. A nice dinner, candles, music, etc
- Ambience is everything!
- You cannot run to the baby’s every cry. ONLY if you truly believe there is something terribly wrong with your child.
- Your child must remain in his/her nursery out of your line of sight
- Reunite and rekindle
Nite out for everyone
Plan an evening of fun for the entire family. Nite out for everyone includes a little fun and relaxation for the entire family. The Mommies are to head out on the town. Daddies are to kick it with boys. Children will play until they cannot keep their eyes open. This works great for a group of friends and works reversing the roles as well.
- Ladies grab your freakum dress, pumps and clutch bag and head out for the night on the town. Visit a lounge, night club, poetry reading or even head out for happy hour.
- Have all the daddies meet up at one house. The dads can have their night of fun while watching the children. Babysitting is better done with entertainment.
- Children will enjoy their playdate
Slumber and Martini Party
Ladies host a playdate slumber party for the All the Girls (Mommies anddaughters)
- Do manicures or hire a mobile manicurist for Mommies and the girls
- Bake! Skip the diet for just one night. Brownies, cookies, etc why choose just one?
- Have a tea party
- Watch age appropriate chick flicks
- Mommies make martinis. Each Mommie should bring a recipe for a drink they would be interested in there is no need for just one martini selection when you have the entire night. Dinner Party with Friends
- Invite only friends with children
- Engage in adult conversation try to stay away from topics such as diapers, diaper rashes, formula and diarrhea
- Although the host should make dinner/snacks for the children. The adults should not be served chicken nuggets as an entrée.
- This should be your child’s play time or play alone time
- Optional: Hire a sitter to come to your house. You cannot run to the baby’s every cry. ONLY if you truly believe there is something terribly wrong with your child (use discretion based on your child’s age)
- Reconnect with friends
